A Christmas break

Posted on 27th December, 2015

Merry Christmas to everyone! All that hype for one day, and before you know, it we are packing away the Christmas tree for another year and all feeling slightly more fuller and bloated after over indulging!  I can't wait to get back to normality, and belly dancing is a big part of my life.  I feel that a break does me good ever so often as I don't tend to have more than a week off here and there all through the year, but Christmas is when I allow myself 'time out' and I don't think about dancing or do any dancing for several weeks.  However, I'm mindful that when we start back in January my ladies will be itching to start a new choreography and I also have a new beginners class to plan for, so I think I will be having a few hours in my new dance studio at home over the next few days to try and gather some inspiration and motivation!

I am sooo excited to have my very own dance space at home now, I'm a very lucky lady and just having the mirrors to help me analyse and the freedom and space to move realy helps with the creativity of putting a dance together.  I need to work on 2 class choreographies, well 3 if I also count our 'fun dance' that has become tradition at the end of each hafla, plus my own solo, and also I need to practise the duet I'll be dancing with Lynne Chapman. Lots to do!

Sometimes Christmas can be quite a sad, emotional time for some, a time for reflection and for memories but I am so lucky to have had such a fantastic, heart warming Christmas with my family this year, that I am very thankful.  I hope 2016 will be a year of good health and happiness and lots more exciting dance opportunities.  Happy New Year!
